We are tenacious & dedicated to data-driven solutions that improve lives in the short term and address root causes of poverty over time. Our approach responds to the individual needs of a community in a way that is problem driven, adaptive, & locally led.
Our recommendations and interventions are based on well-defined and measurable problems. While we may have ideas, we do not propose pre-determined solutions. Our process allow us to: ·Understand the context of the problem ·Facilitate community conversations to develop solutions that consider available resources ·Track outcomes that address root causes of issues
We continuously adapt as we learn. Changing the conditions of a community is extremely complex, non-linear and always evolving. We experiment with solutions, and learn from their successes and failures. There is no magic bullet, only a series of small steps that allow for change. All initiatives are carefully planned out, implemented and monitored. We work with community members to develop next steps based on lessons learned and outcomes achieved.
All efforts and solutions are led by those that are closest to the problem. Those that live in our partner communities have the greatest stake in solving a problem, and the most in-depth knowledge to do so. They understand the core issues, people and groups involved, and are best positioned to develop creative and sustainable solutions. Our role is that of facilitator, coach or advocate, helping communities work through an inclusive process to implement measurable and sustainable change without dictating solutions.

The Volta region of Southeastern Ghana, laying between Lake Volta and the Togo border, is home to over 1.6 million people. While parts of Ghana are relatively urban and economically secure as compared to the rest of Western Africa, Volta is almost exclusively rural and shockingly poor. 75% of its residents live in small villages and the average daily income is well below the international benchmark for extreme poverty. In a place of such extremely limed opportunity, poverty is a birthright, passing poor health, illiteracy, and underemployment from one generation to the next.
Aya is working to break this cycle in two communities, Adaklu Sikama and Klave, by developing efficient, targeted and community led initiatives.
